What to Expect – EDD Audit in San Diego
If you have never heard of or been part of an EDD audit in San Diego, you may not know what to expect. Typically, the EDD will audit you because there was an issue with the way you classified an employee, or you may have not submitted payroll taxes for a term or two. If this happens, you will hear from the EDD and they will investigate further. At Leading Tax Group, we know these mistakes happen, but the EDD is not as understanding as we are and that is why you need Employment Development Department representation in San Diego.
When the EDD audit starts, you will meet with the assigned auditor and they will explain why you are being audited and what steps you need to take. This is a good time for you to ask any questions and once you retain us as your tax experts, we will be there with you.
The next step the auditor will take is to look at the books, payroll records, and all paperwork of the business that relates to employee pay and similar. The auditor will look for any errors and missteps.
Once the audit has been finalized, you will be informed of the results, which can be one of four outcomes, which include overpayment, no charge, underpayment, or both overpayment and underpayment.
